Favorite File Sharing Services

In working with clients, I have often had a need to share large files that are too big to send over email. After researching options, I started using online file sharing services. My favorite ones give you a URL to share with others where they can go and download the files. Sure, FTP is an option, but let’s be honest – who hasn’t had problems or frustrations using that method? With online file sharing people are able to collaborate between partners, clients and teams. No more attachments or FTP, just send a link.

After trying several file sharing services, I would like to share my favorites:

1. MediaFire – Provide unlimited storage space and lets you organize your files in folders. Copy the link they give you to share your files with others. Free accounts offer up to 200 MB per file, and no login required.

2. Drop.io – Very simple user interface, and no login or sign up required. Files can be password protected. The free account has a 100MB storage limit.

3. Windows Live – Free accounts offer 25GB of storage space and a Windows Live account is required to get started. Singlel uploads are limited to 50MB.

4. File Dropper Is super easy to use, just upload your file and then share your personal link. No need to even create a login account.Free accounts can upload up to 5 GB. If you want your account password protected, plans start at $.99 a month.

5 SugarSync! Backup, access, and share files from anywhere, anytime. Free 2 GB plan lets you backup, sync, and share files on up to two computers.

6. Drop Box Is meant to backup your computer, but allows you to share files too. 2GB plans are free. It is a favorite for many people. You do need to download their software to sync your files online and across your computers.

7. Box.net – Provides users with a 1GB free account for personal file sharing and small short-term projects. This would be a more limiting option, as the free account limits a file size to 10MB.

Are there others you use? Which ones are your favorites?

Transfer.ro is a Romanian file sharing site – 1 Gb/ten days

Love the list. I am going to try some of these. Thanks!

There’s a new company called Nomadesk. File sharing is secure and easy. Plus, they have unlimited space for file backup. It’s the best one I’ve used so far.

Is there a good service for having your clients login and upload their designs (CAD), then you can edit it, and place it back for download? (and even charge them when they download it back?)
Thank you.

I use Binfer. I can send large videos directly to my sisters computer. I am big about privacy and dont like to upload my stuff.
